OSHA is one area of the federal government that remains fully active and functional during the current government shutdown. Yes, they are active and still doing inspections! You may not know that in January of 2018, OSHA’s staff was reduced to about 400 employees from about 2,000. MHSA (Mine Safety and Health Association) placed about half of their employees on furlough during that time. Currently, both agencies are fully funded throughout the first 9 months of 2019 and are operational.
Please be aware that OSHA is not slowing down during the government shutdown! In fact, OSHA has stepped up their enforcement efforts even more in the past year. It is anticipated that this will continue. We want you to be prepared and keep up the good safety practices!
Since PTP specializes in safety compliance and OSHA is a hot topic let us take a minute to introduce our new OSHA 10 Hour Outreach for Construction training course coming up on February 8-9!
